2 July 2009 New SPACE show out of this world at Queensland Museum SciencentreThe countdown is on for the launch of the latest interactive science theatre show at Queensland Museum South Bank's Sciencentre. SPACE blasts off from 14 July with a mind-bending exploration of the body, space and the outer limits. Created for the International Year of Astronomy, SPACE is an exciting and engaging science theatre experience that explores concepts behind travelling and living in space. Ever wondered why we don't just float away into space? Or what would happen if you found yourself in space? Visitors will find the answers to theses questions and more. Acting Director of Queensland Museum South Bank Bernadette McCormack said the new show brings together everything we love about science and the final frontier of outer space. "Sciencentre visitors will discover what happens in the vacuum of space, look at technologies of getting people into space and the science of space travel, all without leaving planet Earth," Ms McCormack said. "SPACE also supports components of the Queensland Curriculum Essential Learnings in a number of ways. "Students visiting the Sciencentre will have the opportunity to explore scientific concepts including gravity and Newton's Third Law of Motion, engage with materials both real and virtual, explore natural phenomena and make links between their observations and the everyday world." The new show joins nearly 100 exhibits of hands-on, minds-on interactive fun at the Sciencentre and encourages visitors to engage in active exploration of scientific concepts. SPACE launches on 14 July and will run throughout the school semester until 11 December 2009. SPACE at the Sciencentre
