An ideal workshop for the arachnophobe or arachnophile, this 3.5 hour session will introduce you to the most frequently encountered 8-legged friends found in local bushland, homes and gardens. By the end of the workshop, you will have learnt the fundamentals of spider identification, discovered how these amazing animals live, and hopefully gained a newfound appreciation for these remarkable creatures.

This workshop will include:

  • Basic identification of Brisbane spiders, including dangerous species
  • Spider habitats and homes: identifying webs and burrows
  • Spider myths dispelled

Presenters:

Owen Seeman (Queensland Museum Arachnology) and Matthew Shaw (Queensland Museum Inquiry Centre) are both passionate Museum Arachnologists, both with a comprehensive knowledge of arachnids.
