Loathe them or love them, you can’t avoid insects. A host of fascinating bugs live in our homes and gardens. Inside, beetles and moths invade the pantry, ants and termites nest in the walls and cockroaches and silverfish lurk in dark corners. Outside, insects live in the compost heap, the wheely bin and even the pool, while others chow down on the trees, shrubs and potplants.

This workshop will include:

  • What bug is that? Identifying common backyard insects.
  • Friend or Foe? Which insects are pests and which are the good guys.
  • Where to next? Useful and reliable sources of information on insects in the backyard.

Presenters:
Dr. Chris Burwell and Dr. Christine Lambkin are curators at the Queensland Museum specialising in insects. Both are long term Brisbane residents and are very familiar with the wealth of bugs with which we share are homes and gardens
