Indigenous Cultures - Learning from Objects
Years 8 - 10
Program led by Museum staff
Discover more about Queensland's two Indigenous Cultures by examining objects and ‘bringing them to life’. This program introduces the Dandiiri Maiwar exhibition, inviting further inquiry when exploring the stories and collections of the exhibition.
Students interact with a selection of recognisable artifacts and objects to investigate different resources and technologies used by Indigenous peoples, and to stimulate discussion about living culture and cultural diversity.
Each booking will schedule an exhibition visit to follow this facilitated program.
Biodiversity and Classification
Years 8 - 11
Program led by Museum staff
The Discovery Centre staff share their wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of biodiversity in this overview of animal diversity and the Museum’s collections. This program can be tailored for in depth explorations of particular animal groups (e.g. birds, reptiles) or themes (e.g. marine biology). Please make any request for a customised program at your time of booking.
Your session will come to an end in the Discovery Centre where specimens are arranged systematically, assisting students to understand biodiversity, classification evolutionary relationships and identification. Students and groups are encouraged to explore the resources and collections in the Discovery Centre after their session.
Students engage in discussions and observations while exploring real objects and live specimens to develop an understanding of biodiversity in the natural world.
