Rhoetosaurus
Rhoetosaurus brownei
Rhoetosaurus is Queensland’s own Jurassic dinosaur, and was a large herbivore, growing up to 12m long and about 7m high. Rhoetosaurus is known from a partial skeleton and was named after the Greek god Rhoetos. It would have used its long neck to reach for vegetation, much like a giraffe. It is one of the oldest sauropods in the world, having lived during the Mid-Jurassic, about 170 million years ago.
