Characteristics & adaptations to living in the sea
Living in the sea presents quite different challenges to animals than to those living on land, including the reduced effects of gravity, changes to the wavelength and eventually the existence of light at increased depths, a multitude of mechanisms for feeding, defence, locomotion, and the countless adaptations associated with living in the sea that have evolved over many hundreds of million years.
