Red Mud Lobster

Features

Stout, lobster-like animal with strong claws; reddish-orange. To 100 mm.

Notes

Very common in Moreton Bay. Indigenous, northern and eastern Australia.

Tips of claws and antennae can be often seen poking out of large burrows, lower intertidal and shallow subtidal zones. Disappears rapidly if disturbed.
