Features

Large; shell with strongly granular surface; large, sharp, well-separated teeth on sides behind eyes. To more than 60 mm across shell.

Notes

Burrows on open mudflats in very soft mud. Commonly found as a sub-fossil (1000–5000 years old) during channel and coral dredging. Northern Australia south to Moreton Bay; Indian Ocean and western Pacific north to Japan.
